The Challenge
MGP Analytics wanted an AI research assistant for sports bettors with one non-negotiable: it must never recommend a bet. Not hedged, not implied, not under clever prompting. In a category full of pick-selling noise, the product's integrity depended on an AI that reliably stays inside a hard line.
The Constraint
The guardrail was the product requirement — and guardrails that live in a system prompt are marketing, not engineering. The line had to hold against adversarial users, forever.
The Approach
A harness that makes the guarantee structural: the assistant surfaces streaks, matchups, market movement, and notable edges across NFL, NBA, MLB, and college sports — and declines the “so what should I bet?” question gracefully, every time, by architecture rather than by instruction. Shipped as a full product: accounts, saved research, daily surfaced insights.
The Impact
An evening of box scores and odds tabs became one focused conversation. The constraint held. The same discipline transfers directly to domains where the stakes are contracts, filings, and financial data.
